Kevin's Best of 2009

Definitely this one. Wandering round midtown Manhatten on a September evening. The Rockefeller Centre looks like nothing during the day, but at night, it's stunning. I think I found an angle to show off the buildings to their best.

ISO 3200, f/4, 1/10s

It was a toss up between this and the blue glass building / reflections shot from Prague.

Best of 2009

Found this on dpreview this morning, their meta-best-of-2009, some superb shots here.

So.... what's your best/favourite shot taken during 2009? I'll have a think and come back with my entry.

Snow Garden

Got back to the chalet about 8pm last night after struggling through the snow. Took a few snaps with the Pen. The first one was on Auto Iso (3200, sooooo noisy), and it was dreadful, even on the screen. I set the ISO to 800 and the aperture to the largest available (f/3.5). The shutter speeds were from 1/5 to 1/13 for the lowest light ones, and all hand held. They don't seem too blurry to me (edit: on reflection, looking at the full size shots, I withdraw that!)
No PP done, too busy at work :(
They are all over here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kevinl2048/sets/72157623050916328/

Non-challenge Sunday

Shooting into the sun with my 50mm f/1.4 results in dohnuts. Yeah, I've overdone the sharpening but I like it. Currently my desktop wallpaper.

I was given some lego and I finally got around to making it. He's a fierce wee beastie.

One for the missus

Suggested by Vanessa. I might have another stab at this when at my sisters on boxing day as she has a real live canine pet.
A bit soft, 50mm f/7 @ 1/50s, ISO400. These full frame cameras have much less DoF for the same lens as APS-C DSLRs.
I'm very keen on my blue background.

Awright Guvnor, 'ere's me first

There's a reason I'm an engineer, and not an artist.
With real snow, too. Holly off the bush in the garden.
50mm, f/7, 1/40s, ISO160
Building up to my "proper planned entry", just need o buy a couple of things....
